Dublin City University, one of the fourteen members of EUCTER’s network, invites applications for PhD scholarships (€16,500 per annum for 4 years, plus fee waiver) in any area of Law, Politics, or International Relations within the School of Law and Government department.

DCU’s School of Law and Government invites applications for PhD scholarships (€16,500 per annum for 4 years, plus fee waiver) in any area of Law, Politics, or International Relations.

The School of Law and Government at Dublin City University is a research active school with world-class faculty willing to supervise PhD students on topics within their areas of research.

Outstanding PhD candidates will be offered a fee waiver and a tax-free scholarship of €16,500 per annum for four years.

We invite applications for PhD research in any area of Law, Politics, or International Relations.

The School operates a full-time four-year PhD programme with a range of taught courses in the first year and further professional training offered in other years. The School provides a supportive atmosphere for research postgraduates with dedicated supervisory teams, weekly research seminars in both law and politics, and opportunities to teach. Each student has their own desk and computer. The School currently has over forty research students.

To apply, a full CV with contact details for 2 referees, the grades achieved in a Masters degree with copies of transcripts, and a research proposal (maximum 3,000 words), also indicating a prospective supervisor, should be sent to: alex.baturo@dcu.ie by 5pm (Irish time) on 31 March 2021.

Candidates should be aware that competition is intense, so applications need to be of a very high standard to be successful.

We intend to interview candidates either in person or online, depending on relevant government restrictions, and staff/applicant availability.

To be admitted to the programme, candidates may need to show proficiency in the English language.

Successful candidates will begin their studies in September 2021 and are expected to be normally resident in Dublin for the entire duration of the programme.

The deadline for the PhD scholarship competition is 5pm (Irish time) on 31 March 2021.
